How to Choose a Shower Niche?

Shower niches are a simple way to add beauty and functionality to your bathroom. They offer a convenient space for storing shampoo bottles, soaps and bath accoutrements that can be neatly organized and out of sight.

A shower niche may be pre-formed to fit a standard wall stud or custom built into the walls of your bathtub or shower. Both options have advantages and disadvantages.

Pre-formed niches are a budget-friendly option for a small or medium-sized bathroom. However, they usually come in a limited range of sizes and can limit the amount of storage that can be accommodated.

Custom shower niches offer a much greater scope for design. They allow more freedom to experiment with creative tile layouts and provide more flexible storage options.

One of the key things to consider is the size and shape of your shower niche. Do you want it to blend in with your shower wall and/or backsplash, or do you want it to be the focal point of the room?
The height of the niche also plays an important role. Ideally, it should be located at chest to eye-level. This translates to about 48 to 60 inches in height.

The type of tile you choose for your shower niche will also influence its overall look and feel. Some people prefer a more sleek, modern vibe that’s easy to clean and maintain, while others might prefer something more rustic and natural to bring out the wood accents in your bathroom.
